TeleCity signs an agreement with Casema Telecom
HostReview.com 19 December 2003, TeleCity (LSE: TCY.L), the award-winning pan European data centre services company, today announced that the leading Dutch cable company, Casema Telecom, has signed a three year contract to take a dedicated suite of space to house critical server infrastructure at TeleCity's facilities in Amsterdam. Casema Telecom will use the private suite with TeleCity to house a new Point of Presence (PoP) for a major international telecoms customer who requires additional redundancy in the city. The new PoP wil become the fourth EBN (European Backbone Network) location for Casema Telecom's customer. The other EBNs are located at Casema Telecom premises. Casema is one of the largest cable suppliers in the Netherlands and under the brand name Casema Telecom the company offers telecom services to a wide variety of sectors including local and national government, multinational organisations, educational organisations, carriers and ISPs. Casema Telecom owns and operates a local and national fibre network in the Netherlands providing local access to their services. These services include leased lines (up to and including 2,5 Gbit/s), Ethernet connections, IP-services (including Internet access and IP-VPN), ISDN-30, 0800/090x-service numbers and call center solutions (e.g. Hosted IVR). By locating at TeleCity, Casema can take advantage of the large choice of local-loop suppliers hosted at the facility and, consequently, is more easily able to connect potential end customers. "We are the most important supplier of network connectivity in the Netherlands to this leading international operator and we needed to work with a data centre provider on whom we could totally depend," said Marcel Hendriks, Sales Manager at Casema Telecom. "Our decision on choice of location for the fourth EBN was heavily based on the strength of network availability at the facility. TeleCity's facility was also geographically well-located for us, and TeleCity also have a strong track record with the operator in other locations in Europe." "The Internet and datacomms market is highly competitive," said Jeroen Schlosser, Operations Manager at TeleCity. "Casema provides millions of Dutch homes and companies with cable television and Internet access. The Internet backbones in our data centre will ensure that Casema's customers have rapid and always-on Internet access." Installation work on the private suite has already commenced. Casema Telecom is installing fourteen fibre links into the TeleCity Data Centre.
The company has 9 locations across Europe, in Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Manchester, Frankfurt, Paris and Stockholm. Via these locations TeleCity can provide its customers a quick access to the most important internet-backbones, like LINX (London), AMS-IX, (Amsterdam) and MaNAP (Manchester). Headquartered in London, TeleCity was established in 1998, floated on the London Stock Exchange (TCY.L) in June 2000 and posted a turnover of £23.8M in the year to December 2002. For further details,
