Cable & Wireless becomes fully UK government accredited IP-VPN provider to the NHS and wider public sector
HostReview.com Cable & Wireless, the international telecommunications group, today (28 November 2003) announced that its Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP-VPN) service is now fully accredited for use in the UK National Health Service (NHS) and the wider public sector. The accreditation comes after an intensive audit in which Cable & Wireless' IP-VPN service was evaluated by the Communications Electronics Security Group (CESG), the information assurance arm of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). The accreditation means that both the UK government and the NHS are confident that Cable & Wireless IP-VPN offers the highest level of security for their needs, both in its technical architecture and administration management. Cable & Wireless IP-VPN is the only such service to be fully accredited by the UK government. Robin Schlee, managing director, UK Government & Public Sector, Cable & Wireless commented, "We are delighted to receive official recognition of our ability to provide tightly controlled access to information across IP-VPNs for our public sector customers. We at Cable & Wireless feel it is essential that UK organisations that wish to use IP-VPN technology as a flexible, cost-effective part of their modernisation strategy can do so, safe in the knowledge that sensitive information remains confidential." Cable & Wireless delivers IP-VPN solutions to numerous private sector organisations including Heinz, Marks & Spencer, the RSPCA and Yorkshire Building Society. About Cable
