AT&T Wins Multi-Million Dollar Networking Contract From Georgia-Pacific
HostReview.com ATLANTA -- AT&T announced today it has signed a multi-million dollar integrated networking contract with Georgia-Pacific, one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging, building products and related chemicals. The three-year agreement significantly expands AT&T's relationship with Georgia-Pacific. AT&T has deployed a wide-area network (WAN) that provides an integrated communications platform serving more than 300 Georgia-Pacific locations across the country. Based on Frame Relay to ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Interworking, the AT&T solution supports networking applications running on Georgia-Pacific's corporate intranet, from email to manufacturing, inventory control and warehousing. "Consolidating our data infrastructure onto a single, integrated network with AT&T is already paying dividends," said James Dallas, vice president of Information Technology and chief information officer, Georgia-Pacific. "Locations converted by AT&T are reporting improved service. We have also gained real-time access to information about network performance." Additionally, through the AT&T BusinessDirect Web portal, Georgia-Pacific gains around-the-clock online access to up-to-the-minute information about the performance of its network, applications and the status of orders or maintenance requests. "Expanding a relationship with a long-time, valued customer is always great," said Marc Lambert, AT&T Director of Sales. "Georgia-Pacific can count on us to stay focused on meeting their communication requirements while also exploring new and emerging technology solutions."
