Expanded Red Hat training offerings and Red Hat Enterprise Linux v.3 feature focus on security

RALEIGH, NC—November 18, 2003—Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the world's premier open source software provider, today announced new offerings to enable secure practices in enterprise organizations. RH423 Red Hat Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication is a hands-on course on directory services, authentication and security configuration for enterprises running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3. The new offerings are complementary to Red Hat's Open Source Architecture strategy which promotes security through a common code base across enterprise infrastructure.

Red Hat's new training course, RH423 Red Hat Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication, expands the advanced computing curriculum for RHCEs. The Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) training and certification program has won numerous awards and has been lauded as one of the top technical certifications available. RH423 is part of the Red Hat Security Curriculum, a suite of courses that provides in-depth, hands-on training for IT professionals who wish to extend their knowledge of the security features and capabilities found in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and other open source tools. RHCEs and experienced Linux professionals will learn advanced methods and practices for configuring LDAP and kerberos on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 servers in RH423. Ultimately they will be able to achieve what is called single schema authentication, a configuration that centralizes authentication and secure control of access to systems, applications and data throughout the enterprise.

"RHCEs can now get advanced level hands-on training on LDAP and single schema authentication on RHEL 3, centralizing secure operational control from data center to client, across the organization."

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, announced in October, contains several features designed for increased levels of security across organizations:

• Guaranteed, 5-year, security errata with automatic updates with Red Hat Enterprise Network
• Firewall (iptables) support
• Configuration/ports disabled by default
• Kernel IPsec to secure IP layer communications between hosts and networks
• Highly configurable File System ACLs that can be added to any objects to fine-tune access
• In-Tree Crypto API to allow encryption to be done within the kernel

RH423 is being launched in parallel with updates to the entire RHCE curriculum for RHEL 3 this month in Americas and worldwide by early January.
