The leader in information security Symantec Corp. (www.symantec.com) today announced that John Schwarz, Symantec's president and chief operating officer, will keynote at NASDAQ's 15th Investor Program in London. Schwarz's presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at 9 a.m. GMT/5 a.m. ET.

John W. Thompson, Symantec's chairman and chief executive officer, will present at JP Morgan's 33rd Annual Technology Conference in San Francisco. Thompson's presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET.

Schwarz and Thompson will discuss the strategic merits of the proposed Symantec and VERITAS merger. Symantec is the global leader in information security providing a broad range of software, appliances and services designed to help individuals, small and mid-sized businesses, and large enterprises secure and manage their IT infrastructure.

Additional information regarding the directors and executive officers of VERITAS is also included in VERITAS' proxy statement for its 2004 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, which was filed with the SEC on July 21, 2004.

Symantec also announced Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh, the world's most renowned protection against known and emerging virus threats.

"In today's fast paced online threat environment, it is important for Symantec to offer secure protection at all end points," said Matthew Moynahan, vice president Consumer Products and Solutions, for Symantec.

Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh includes a new Global Threat Assessment dashboard that provides the status of local computer virus protection and an overview of global threats allowing users to quickly and efficiently monitor their Macs' security.

The Global Threat Assessment dashboard also allows users to easily monitor their security protection by showing the status information for Norton AntiVirus's Auto-Protect feature.

Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh offers users the enhanced convenience of quick and easy manual virus scans.

The contextual menu support feature lets users scan files and directories "on the fly" by right clicking/control clicking on a particular file or directory.

Designed with power users in mind, the custom SafeZones feature gives users an added level of convenience and works to optimize system performance. Users can specify particular areas of their drive, or specific volumes or files, to be or not to be routinely scanned for threats.

Video and media editors, for example, with huge directories or volumes, can specify a SafeZone, to avoid time consuming scans of their entire hard drive.

"To ensure that individuals and businesses are protected in an increasingly wireless environment, Symantec is delivering targeted solutions to address the emerging virus and security threats brought by pervasive mobile communications," said Sarah Hicks, vice president, Strategic Opportunities, at Symantec.

Symantec Mobile Security 4.0 for Symbian is available as a two-year downloadable service for users of select Nokia and Panasonic smartphones.

"Symbian OS powers the world's most popular smartphones with over 25 million Symbian OS-based phones shipped to date and over 40 Symbian OS phone models currently shipping to over 200 mobile carriers worldwide," said Jerry Panagrossi, vice president of US operations, Symbian.
