Web Hosting Industry Week

This week was market with one more successful acquisition. FatCow Web Hosting (www.fatcow.com) announced that the company sold its assets to Endurance International, a Boston area group.

"I hope it just continues to grow and customers are delighted," says company CEO and founder Jackie Fewell, who is now an Endurance vice president of marketing. She shared that the acquisition was a really exiting event.

Among the launches this week was The Planet's new web hosting series. The PlanetSM (www.theplanet.com) unveiled this week its Focus SeriesSM, a collection of turnkey, application-specific hardware, software and hosting packages.

"Focus Series really brings the needs of dynamic businesses into focus," said Julia Estes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at The Planet. 

The industry expansion to the marketing programs this week was presented by Digital River, Inc. (www.digitalriver.com). The provider in e-commerce outsourcing announced it launched a new international online marketing program for software.

The Starter Package Europe enables software publishers to analyze their market potential in European.

The same time Microsoft announced it is extending the Microsoft® Connected Services Framework to organizations in the broadcast and film industries.

The Connected Services Framework enables broadcast companies and film studios to streamline the creation, management and delivery of digital content.

"The Microsoft Connected Services Framework is already generating tremendous excitement among customers and partners in the film and broadcast industries," said Maria Martinez, corporate vice president for the Communications Sector at Microsoft. 

In the security field the news came from Sprint this week. Businesses that depend on email communications to securely transfer important data can benefit from a new message archive service from Sprint (www.sprint.com).

Message Archive is the latest addition to the Sprint Managed SecuritySM Services portfolio and works in tandem with Sprint Email ProtectionSM service, a network-based solution for preventing spam, viruses and unwanted content from entering and compromising enterprise networks.

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (www.sun.com) announced the latest version of Sun Java System Instant Messaging, a key component of Sun Java Communications Suite.

In addition, Sun Java System Instant Messaging includes new privacy controls, significant improvements in usability and new partnerships to enhance the offering.
