Web Hosting Industry Week

Netcraft prognoses this week that SBC Communications' $16 billion purchase of AT&T will create America's largest telecom company. The monitoring agency stated it will also boost SBC's profile in the web hosting business, where AT&T has an impressive portfolio of blue-chip customers.

The other big news was the Google's ICANN accreditation. Google became an ICANN-accredited registrar of domain names. The leader search engine is approved to sell names in seven top-level domains (TLDs) including .com, .net, .org, .biz., info, .name and .pro.

Successful acquisitions were in the top news this week as well with Axtive Corporation (www.axtive.com) announcement about signing of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Datatek Group Corporation a subsidiary of Diversified Corporate Resources, Inc. (DCRI).

Graham C. Beachum III, President and COO of Axtive Corporation, stated, "The acquisition of Datatek marks a major event in the evolution of Axtive Corporation.

After the successful acquisition in January, Comodo, through their Web Hosting and server automation division PSOFT, announced the new version of the leading web host control panel H-Sphere. H-Sphere is proven to be a scalable multi-server web hosting control panel that automates and simplifies most web hosting related tasks. It also allows the management of multiple Linux, FreeBSD & Win200x servers as one centralized cluster.

Growth in expanding was announced by VeriSign, Inc. (www.verisign.com), a provider of intelligent infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks. The company has extended its Email Security Service to provide support for European businesses of all sizes, allowing European organizations to combat threats posed to email infrastructure by spam and email-borne viruses. 

Peak 10 (www.Peak10.com) announced the company expanded nationwide with its Raleigh data center to support the company's growth in the Research Triangle region as well as provide additional redundancy options for Peak 10's customers nationwide.

One more news in the marketing - hosting dual development came from Hurricane Electric (www.he.net) this week. The company will host "Low Budget Online Marketing," an informative Marketing seminar that will focus on strategies that business owners, web designers, and marketing professionals can use to grow a business on the Internet.
