Last week's top promotion was launched by 1&1 Internet AG, offering free full-featured web hosting accounts for up to six months. The "Test Drive" features 1&1's BusinessPro Package, which is its' most popular hosting plan and normally costs $9.99 a month. The bonuses of the free trial includes a domain name as well as participants not being required to submit credit card information. Yahoo has extended its $4.98 a year domain name promotion through at least Feb. 8, the third such extension since it introduced the offer on Dec. 10. The extension suggests the offer is generating business for Yahoo and is oriented to attract small business customers. The latest trend of organizations which have been struggling to strike a balance between security and the pursuit of business opportunity was covered by the latest IDC initiative to hold a forum. The IDC Security Forum West: Investigating the Next Frontiers in Security and Business Continuity, to be held May 11, 2005 in San Francisco, will provide enterprise decision-makers with an objective evaluation of emerging technologies as well as benchmarking opportunities that focus on the technical, financial, policy, and communication issues that are critical to understand as attacks on computer systems multiply and new challenges in safeguarding information continue to arise. Last week Domain Registrar Go Daddy decided to purchase a second ad during next Sunday's Super Bowl, for an overall $4.8 million investment in 60 seconds worth of air time.
