Is Amazon changing the hosting game?
Amazon extended its distributed computing and storage platform by adding "Elastic IPs" to the offering. Elastic IPs provide static static IP addresses for server instances hosted at Amazon. In effect, it is now easier to host websites and web application using the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service, which provides a worldwide network of servers for hire. The system is typically said to provide computing “in the cloud,” referring to its availability over the Internet and the traditional use of a cloud graphic for the representation of a publicly available network in technical illustrations. |

ICANN-accredited Network Solutions, with decades-long history and millions of registered domain names on its tab, is the latest company to suspend a web site under the pressure of what some might call common sense, and others unilateral censure. |
Majority of malware sites hosted in China: Google study
The Google Anti-Malware Team has published a research paper detailing the distribution and technical background of websites that distribute malicious software. According to the leading author of the study, Google has found in its index more than three million unique URLs pointing to 180,000 websites, which attempt to automatically infect systems when opened in a browser. Two-thirds of those "drive-by download" sites are hosted in China. |
IPv6 Internet Era Officially Begins
After ICANN enabled IPv6 addressing on six of its root DNS servers, it is now possible for an IPv6-only system to connect to another similar system without the need to do DNS lookups over the older, IPv4 version of the protocol. This is the first Internet-wide implementation of the new protocol, which is expected to gradually become the new standard over the coming years. |
