NaviSite Introduces Desktop-as-a-Service Solution Leveraging NVIDIA GRID Technology For Enterprise Users

10:50:38 - 22 August 2014

Provides high-end graphic capabilities that deliver outstanding application performance

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NaviSite today announced the launch of a leading-edge Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solution that uses NVIDIA GRID™ technology to offer industry-leading rich graphics performance. In doing so, NaviSite has ushered the benefits of desktop virtualization for even the most intensive graphics workloads to a broader audience of end-users using engineering, design, and multimedia applications.

The solution brings the full benefit of NVIDIA hardware-accelerated graphics to the Cloud, enabling true GPU hardware acceleration across multiple virtual desktops without compromising the overall graphics experience. As a result, users across a number of industries including architectural design, manufacturing and higher education can now access 3D renderings and run high performance graphics applications using a traditional PC or thin client. Through NaviSite’s DaaS platform, users have a dedicated GPU processor that can run mission critical applications and support large data processing tasks, freeing up the system’s core processor and memory to deliver greater system performance.

“We have expanded our industry-leading DaaS portfolio to enable graphic intensive processing workloads in an extremely cost effective, flexible and scalable model without compromising performance,” said Sumeet Sabharwal, GM, NaviSite. “Our partnership with NVIDIA furthers our leadership in bringing the full promise of desktop virtualization to enterprises.”

“NaviSite’s solution using NVIDIA GRID technology enables all users in high-end graphic work environments to have a great experience no matter where they are. The platform allows enterprises to take advantage of the many benefits of a cloud-hosted PC and still maintain the high quality graphic experience these industries require,” said Andrew Cresci, GM of the GRID business at NVIDIA.

While addressing high-powered computing and visual graphics needs, NaviSite’s DaaS solution builds upon the core benefits including:

Scale on-demand - IT can easily and quickly provision desktop environments based on the immediate needs of the business.

• Enhance Security and Compliance - Users can store sensitive information, such as 3D product design or off-shore hi-res maps in NaviSite’s state-of-the-art SSAE 16 compliant NaviCloud data centers, providing a high level of security and compliance.

Minimize Capital Costs - Businesses no longer need to continually update their hardware, reducing the amount of capital expenditure required for virtual desktop deployments.

NaviSite will showcase demos of the NVIDIA GRID-powered DaaS solution at the upcoming VMworld® 2014, August 24-28, San Francisco, Calif. (NaviSite booth #2029).
