Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT) Gets Behind OpenStack Cloud Software Project

09:40:56 - 12 August 2014

Cloud-Native Datacenter Hardware Player Already Has Partnerships in Place With Major Software, Integration Players

Fremont, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 - QCT, global provider of hardware to cloud datacenters, has signed on as a corporate sponsor of the OpenStack Foundation.

QCT is well known for its engineering expertise in designing brutally efficient datacenter hardware (servers, storage, switches, and integrated rack solutions) for hyperscale cloud datacenters. The company becomes the first of the cloud-native datacenter hardware providers to announce support for the OpenStack Foundation.

QCT already has partnerships in place with a range of OpenStack ecosystem players, including the core OpenStack platform providers, the major packaged software distribution providers, service providers, and system integrators.

“The OpenStack project has become the dominant open-source cloud deployment platform for our customers in both private cloud and public cloud,” said Mike Yang, general manager, QCT. “What started four years ago as a trickle of deployments has become a torrent. As a supporter of open source projects that boost datacenter efficiency, supporting the OpenStack Foundation was a logical next step for QCT.”

QCT and its parent, Quanta Computer, Inc. are supporters of several open source projects, including early and active support of the Open Compute Foundation. QCT will participate in the OpenStack community by offering engineering and design resources to teams working on OpenStack programs that rely on the predictable and efficient performance of physical commodity hardware infrastructure.

“QCT brings our project a useful new hardware design and engineering expertise,” said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation. “Their knowledge base in building commodity hardware with hyperscale DNA for the large enterprise data center will be useful as enterprises that want commodity gear continue scaling out with OpenStack.”

QCT has U.S. facilities in Fremont, Calif.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Seattle, Wash. APAC facilities are located in Tao Yuan, Taiwan; Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing, China; and Seoul, Korea. Before the end of this year, QCT will open additional locations in China, as well as Japan and Europe.

QCT will exhibit in and participate at the OpenStack Summit in Paris, November 3-5. Register today.
