HOUSTON, Nov. 25, 2008 – The Planet, the global leader in IT hosting, today announced it has been named to the Fast Tech 50, an annual list of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in Houston. Among the 50 award recipients, The Planet was the single largest revenue producer based on its 2007 gross revenues. Chairman and CEO Douglas J. Erwin was also named Enterprise Champion, recognized for his contributions to the technology industry and to the community at large.
The Fast Tech 50 ranks companies across several industry verticals, including software development/services, e-commerce, hardware, technical consulting, energy-technology products, medical devices and communications. Based on its 69 percent revenue growth between 2006 and 2007, The Planet was ranked No. 29.
The awards are co-sponsored by the Houston Business Journal and PKF Texas, Houston’s largest locally owned CPA firm.

To qualify for the Fast Tech 50, companies must be headquartered in the Houston metropolitan area and have net revenues of more than $200,000 in both 2006 and 2007. At least 51 percent of a company’s consolidated net revenues must be involved in the manufacture, design or development of technology products or delivery of services.
