Lou Honick shared his experience as
HostMySite.com CEO in a keynote panel session at HostingCon with other Web hosting
CEOs. He also led sessions about customer service and virtual private servers. Sessions were divided into tracks, including
hot-button topics like application hosting and shared services hosting.
"It's reassuring to see the amount of enthusiasm shown by this year's attendees," says Mr. Honick. "As the hosting industry evolves away from a diskspace and bandwidth focus and more towards being value added service-driven, people are eager to learn more about new application and shared services, how to deliver them, and the benefits of moving to a Software as a Service (Saas) model."
Attendees came out early on the first day to learn customer service methodologies and hear real-world tales in Mr. Honick's 'High-Quality Customer Service for Hosting' session. "The best way I can illustrate HostMySite.com's service culture is to share real experiences that my staff and I have gone through," explains the veteran CEO. "As the industry shifts to value added service offerings, you have to focus on great service and understand the needs of your customers to stay ahead of the competition."
The second day brought a large turnout to the keynote panel session 'Lessons from the Trenches - What Works NOW' with four top Web hosting CEOs, including HostMySite.com's own CEO. Attendees were treated to a discussion of new product introductions, customer acquisition, training and developing good employees, and current challenges facing the Web hosting community. Later on the same day, attendees were able to learn how to address some of those challenges at Mr. Honick's 'Develop a Successful Virtual Private Server Profit Model' session.
"The turnout for this year's conference has exceeded my expectations," reports Mr. Honick. "I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from others and to share my own knowledge and experience. HostingCon was an outstanding opportunity to connect with other Web hosting professionals and discuss ways we can grow our businesses and advance the industry as a whole."
