Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies (www.softlayer.com) announced the official launch of operations and sales to the public - with 1,000 of the company's servers ready for immediate deployment. SoftLayer targets small- to medium-sized enterprise businesses, hosting resellers, and integrators with on-demand bundled IT services at very aggressive pricing.
"SoftLayer intends to be the outsourced IT utility for the masses," said Lance Crosby, President and CEO of SoftLayer. "Our mission is to deliver enterprise quality service to the emerging dedicated server market. By bundling the Datacenter, bandwidth, hardware, software, applications, monitoring, security and more, we consolidate the latest technological trends at very affordable monthly commitment rates."
The company's service offering includes new dual core processor servers from Intel and AMD, 32/64 bit operating systems and applications, redundant Cisco network with IDS and DDOS mitigation, gigabit network speeds from the server to core, a proprietary management portal, private backend networks, remote reboot and console, and true secure out-of-band management to each server.
According to Mr. Crosby, SoftLayer's developers and engineers have created a complete management system targeted to enable complete control by the customer. SoftLayer's network-within-the-network gives customers the ability to add, change, and/or modify their current environment on the fly without changing existing infrastructure or requiring downtime.
Located in the INFOMART in Dallas, Texas, SoftLayer was formed in June 2005 by a team of industry executives seeking to deliver low cost next generation on-demand hosting services for the small to medium enterprise (SME).
