Site5 Internet Solutions (www.site5.com) announces the immediate release and availability of the Flashback technology for Site5 customer accounts (both shared and reseller) beginning November 28, 2005.
What is Flashback? We're glad you asked. Think of Flashback as an insurance policy on all of your site’s files... or a Web Site "Time Machine"... or the Ultimate File System. Every time you make a change to any file on your website (regardless of whether it is made through FTP, a server-side file editor, or your control panel's file manager), the Flashback system recognizes the change and creates a new archived "version" of that file. If a file becomes corrupted, it can be individually restored to a previous version with the click of a button, and because Flashback indexes every change, you can access an up-to-the-minute version of a file that would have to be replaced by an older backup copy if the files are restored from a nightly backup (a service Site5 continues to provide free of charge for extra peace of mind). With Flashback, a user can restore damaged files, create seasonal versions of sites that can be seamlessly changed to their original versions, revert back to old designs, and see the record of every change made to his/her site.
Site5 Co-Founder and CEO, Matt Lightner, explains, “Flashback is another major component in Site5’s quest to revolutionize the web hosting industry. I wish I could give a 10,000 word in-depth explanation to share my excitement about all of its features… The ability to restore a file is a core feature, but users can also view old and new files side-by-side to see differences or enable syntax highlighting to quickly scan code in the online file editor. And, in accordance with our commitment to supporting the Web 2.0 revolution, the Flashback user interface is intuitive, simple, and filled with AJAX-powered functionality where it serves to make user experience more enjoyable. Flashback is already better than we imagined, and I am anxious to see how quickly this tool evolves to become the industry standard for file systems.”
The Site5 Engineering Team, headed by CTO Adam Greenfield, has been anticipating this release: “Flashback is the first public release from our full-force team of engineers, and the speed of its development suggests that Site5 customers will be seeing similar innovative features--many of which are already under development--added to our service line in the near future.” Site5 is among the only hosting companies in the industry to have a team of five full-time expert software developers working solely on creating new and inovative tools for web hosting.
Flashback technology is free for all Site5 customers until March 1, 2006, at which point, it is set to become an optional feature for all accounts at only two dollars more per month. For more information on the Flashback technology and demos of what it can do for you, visit www.whatisflashback.com.
