MCI, Inc. (www.mci.com) announced it will help Ocean Beauty (www.oceanbeauty.com), one of the largest seafood processing companies in the Pacific Northwest, migrate from an in-house VPN to an advanced IP communications solution.

Looking to enhance its ability to do business from coast-to-coast, Ocean Beauty selected MCI's integrated IP solution to provide their next-generation communications platform, enabling the food processor to improve supply-chain efficiencies through the deployment of an ERP software solution, connect geographically-dispersed business units and enhance management of its manufacturing operations.

"We selected MCI's IP solutions to help us centralize our network operations enabling us to function more efficiently and cost effectively," said Sentoso Sendjaja, IT director for Ocean Beauty.

With its migration to MCI Private IP, Ocean Beauty is taking advantage of MCI's SIG network-based firewall capabilities to seamlessly deliver traffic from origination to destination, while affording it greater network stability and predictability.

Additionally through the use of MCI technology, Ocean Beauty is able to standardize its network to provide secure, centralized Internet access across various company sites while eliminating circuit and service redundancies. MCI's comprehensive IP solution also gives Ocean Beauty a single point of contact to manage all of its U.S. sites, while paving the way to adopt future applications like videoconferencing and VoIP.

"With MCI's Private IP and Secure Internet Access services, Ocean Beauty is able to transition to a single IP-based infrastructure to better meet its evolving business needs," said Steve Young, MCI senior vice president of Commercial Markets.

MCI's Private IP Service is the company's flagship MPLS-based VPN offering and fastest growing service, delivering flexible classes of service, any-to-any IP routing and robust service level agreements to carry data, voice and video traffic securely.
