TeleCity, (www.telecity.com), Europe’s leading provider of colocation, data centre and managed services, today announced that three additional data centres have achieved BS7799 certification for information security management, the ultimate benchmark in information security.
The newly certified sites are Bonnington House in Canary Wharf (the second London location to be registered alongside Harbour Exchange) and its two Amsterdam facilities. With the addition of TeleCity’s Frankfurt site, which achieved the registered status earlier this autumn, five out of TeleCity’s nine European data centres have now secured BS7799 compliance.
BS7799 is a recognised industry standard for benchmarking Information Security Management Systems within an organisation. Once achieved, BS7799 certification demonstrates an organisation's formal, ongoing commitment to protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of both customers and its own information from internal and external threat and identifies the organisation as a safe trading partner.
To obtain BS7799 certification of each site from the Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance (LRQA), TeleCity had to demonstrate to an external auditor that its security systems complied with the ten various aspects of the standard. These include security policy, risk analysis and treatment, access control, physical and environmental security, planning for business continuity and compliance, and the ongoing availability of the site infrastructure.
Ricky Hudson, CEO at TeleCity, said: “As one of only 215 organisations with this accreditation in the UK, and one of only a few companies achieving this status in the Netherlands and Germany, our compliance with BS7799 in these markets is a measure of our commitment to security management and demonstrates that TeleCity takes security seriously. ”
This development is part of TeleCity’s ongoing programme of rigorous BS7799 certification. It is planned that the company’s four additional data centres in Manchester, Dublin, Stockholm and Paris are scheduled to be accredited by early 2006.
TeleCity is a leading European provider of colocation and data centre services. Through its network of carrier-neutral data centres, it provides colocation, IT infrastructure management and IT services to communication service providers, corporate enterprises and the public sector.
