SAN DIEGO, Calif. – August 3, 2005 – Nine Systems, a major provider of streaming technology and content delivery services, has promoted its current Executive Vice President of Engineering, Kit Knox, to Chief Technology Officer.
Knox began his career with Nine Systems in 2002 and has been an integral part of the company’s management team. Since that time, he has assumed responsibilities in continued development and on-going maintenance of Nine Systems’ suite of rich media management and delivery products that enable audio and video streaming. In his new role as Chief Technology Officer, Knox will oversee the technology roadmap and product strategy development for the company. He will work closely with the customers including Amazon, CinemaNow and Universal Music Group to understand their content management needs and work with the product development team to further define its line of products to ensure that Nine Systems is providing the best content delivery services to its customers.
“We are pleased to announce this management change within our company,” said Troy Snyder, CEO and President, Nine Systems. “Kit has been a true asset to the management team and has extensive knowledge and valuable experience delivering the latest streaming technology. Kit will continue to expand our relationships with our customer base, grow our business and strengthen our position as a major player in the streaming and content delivery industry.”
Knox’s appointment follows Nine Systems’ recent senior management changes, including the promotion of Pete Mountanos to Chief Operating Officer as well as the appointment of John Watson as the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Knox brings extensive entrepreneurial and engineering skills to Nine Systems. Prior to joining the company, Knox was the Senior Director of Engineering at NaviSite where he led the design and development work on a suite of software and services that became Nine Systems Stream OS. Knox also co-founded several startup companies focused on streaming technologies, including ClickHear Productions, a streaming and hosting company that was acquired by CMGi in 2000 and CamZone, a streaming media software company that produced high-frame-rate video embedded in a user’s browser, a milestone duplicated one year later in February 1997 when Progressive Networks (now Real Networks) released its first version of Real Video. He was the co-founder of an ISP company, CONNECTnet, which was acquired by Allegiance Telecom and was the beginning of Knox’s partnership with Nine Systems CEO Troy Snyder.
“I’m honored to assume my new responsibilities at Nine Systems,” commented Kit Knox, Chief Technology Officer, Nine Systems. “I look forward to working with the team to take Nine Systems to the next stage in its development as we continued to expand and advance our corporate goals and initiatives into the mobile industry world.”
