HostedBlackBerry Service Gives Businesses Mobile Messaging without the Needto Invest in Costly Infrastructure and Support

MICROSOFT TECH ED 2004, SAN DIEGO, May 24, 2004 - Mobile e-mail, once viewed as a luxury tool reserved for only the CEO or president, is growing. NaviSite, Inc. (NASDAQ SC: NAVI), a provider of outsourced hosting and managed application services, is making it easier for businesses to establish mobile e-mail by offering BlackBerry support for its hosted messaging customers.

If a business wanted to roll out its own BlackBerry service, it would have to spend $3,000 on the server, make sure it had a box to install it on and pay the user license of $40 per user and maintain it. NaviSite's removes that initial and ongoing overhead cost by offering a hosted BlackBerry service for a monthly fee of just $10 per person.

“As a consulting firm in the competitive healthcare industry, e-mail is critical to our business. We need reliable messaging service to maintain a high level of customer service, and NaviSite has successfully provided that,” said Brian Schneider, a Senior Associate at Putnam Associates, Inc., Burlington, MA. “Now, mobile messaging through NaviSite's BlackBerry service takes our ability to rapidly make decisions and respond to customer needs to a higher level and allows us to provide even better service.”

“Today's competitive market requires businesses of any size to be agile and respond to market shifts quickly,” said Will Scott, vice president, products and services, NaviSite. “By connecting key employees with BlackBerry service, companies ensure that the right employees are available when decisions need to be made or input is needed to move a project forward.”

Special Limited Offer
Through the end of June, NaviSite will waive the $50 per BlackBerry implementation fee for new BlackBerry service customers who sign a year-long contract. To receive this offer, customers must use NaviSite's hosted messaging service and they must pay for the year's BlackBerry service in advance. Customers are responsible for obtaining their own BlackBerry device and for paying for the wireless service charges through their local carrier. Customers do not need to have every mailbox under the messaging service on the BlackBerry service. For example, a messaging contract of 300 users may only have 10 BlackBerry users.
