Equinix Expands Footprint with Addition of Sprint Data Center

Agreement To Take Over 160,000 Square-Foot Silicon Valley Center Effective December 1, 2003

FOSTER CITY, CA — October 27, 2003 — Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that it has signed an agreement for Equinix to sublease Sprint's E|Solutions Internet Center in Santa Clara and acquire certain related assets. The 160,000 square foot data center, where Sprint currently hosts the web operations of some of the top names in the Internet, will become Equinix's 15th Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) center, expanding Equinix's global footprint to over 1.2 million square feet in five countries.

In addition to operating two IBX centers in the Silicon Valley area, Equinix also operates centers in the New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Honolulu, Singapore, Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo areas.

"Equinix has experienced solid and consistent demand for high quality data center space in the Silicon Valley," said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "We currently have a strong pipeline of potential customers in the Silicon Valley and will now have additional capacity to expand our footprint with minimal capital expenditures."

Sprint's Santa Clara center provides a physical infrastructure that is consistent with Equinix's industry-leading standards, allowing Equinix to begin moving new customers into the center as well as maintain relationships with Sprint's customers that are currently in the center. Sprint will continue to provide transport services to the facility. In addition, consistent with the Equinix model of network-neutrality, the company will offer a choice of networks in the new center.

Equinix may begin placing customers in the center December 1, 2003, subject to the satisfaction of closing conditions and completion of closing under its agreement with Sprint. Additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
