Comments14/10/2003- COLT Telecom today announced that Regus, the world's largest provider of serviced offices, has selected a managed storage and hosting solution from COLT. Under the contract, COLT is managing the storage and hosting requirements for all Regus' sites, spread across 400 locations in more than 50 countries. This global customer win underlines the reliability and breadth of COLT's pan-European network and demonstrates its abilities in the areas of managed services, storage and hosting.
COLT is managing the network infrastructure supporting Regus' mission critical applications and managing its storage intensive applications in a Storage Area Network (SAN) environment. Regus is therefore able to provide a better quality of service to its 60,000 worldwide customers by delivering faster response times and high availability for their everyday applications. COLT is also managing the applications critical to Regus' internal organisation, such as Intranet, HR, Finance and CRM applications.
With Regus continually adding new sites to its global network of business centres, Regus was looking for a scalable and highly resilient solution to keep pace with its escalating data storage demands. Regus therefore migrated all of its systems from an internal data centre to a COLT data centre. Email storage in particular was an issue that needed to be addressed. By selecting a managed MS Exchange service from COLT, the problem of email storage has been eliminated.
In addition, COLT has also completed a server consolidation project for Regus. Having found that a number of Regus' servers were being under-utilised, COLT has significantly reduced the number of Regus' servers. Regus benefits from a more resilient and scalable architecture, greater capacity, and reduced cost of ownership. COLT is also working on a Disaster Recovery solution in partnership with Regus.
