Online advertising revenues up 25% in 2007

A new research paper by the The Interactive Advertising Bureau(IAB) shows that internet advertising revenues totaled $21.2 billion in 2007. This is an increase of 25% over 2006, itself the third consecutive record-breaking year.

"Search, display, classifieds and lead generation all continued growing at a healthy rate, according to the report. Consumer advertisers remained the largest category of Internet advertising spending, at 55% of 2007 full-year revenues, up from 52% from the full year 2006. "

The study, entitled The Internet Advertising Revenue Report, has been published since 1996. The IAB sponsors the study, which is conducted independently by the New Media Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLD. The full report is issued twice yearly for full and half-year data, and top-line quarterly figures are issued for the first and third quarters.

IAB represents 375 interactive companies, involved in the sale of interactive advertising. IAB members are responsible for selling over 86% of online advertising in the United States.
