Twitter, the popular microblogging website provides businesses with a
cheap and quick-spreading medium to place their marketing messages.
With the boom in social media, it is becoming increasingly important
for businesses to connect with their audiences on a personal level and
communicate effectively. Online social media marketing has proven to be
more powerful and effective than the traditional advertising and
marketing campaigns.
However, in order to build your brand
reputation and establish a powerful presence on the social media
channels like Twitter, it is important to know the right tricks and
techniques. Otherwise, you might end up damaging your company and
business brand. Here are some tips to marketing effectively on Twitter.
Become part of the Community
Remember,
Twitter is not a broadcasting tool where you can flash your message
within the I40 character limit update. Rather, it is a medium to
converse within a community. Therefore, focus on building a relevant
community by following like-minded people and having them follow you.
Once you become part of a community you would have relevant responses
towards your messages.
Don't Intrude between Conversations
Respect
the people in your community and avoid gatecrashing conversations.
Rather, aim to initiate conversations yourself. You can start by asking
relevant questions to your followers.
Make your Posts Personal
Your
posts should reflect your personality. While this is easier for a
personal account, managing corporate accounts becomes little difficult
where more than one person manages the same account. In such cases
consider identifying the tweets with a personal symbol. This would help
your follwers identify the person behind the tweets and form a
connection.
Restrict the use of Hashtags
Hashtags
are popularly used to tag the subject of the post. However, over-use of
the same gives a hint to your users that your trying to blatantly
market yourself. Therefore, use hashtags sparingly and only as and when
required.
Don't Spam
While you do need to be
active on Twitter, that doesn't mean you make frequent posts and spam
your account. Make sure each and every tweet that you make is relevant
and does some value addition.
Have a Strategic Plan of Action
Before
you start a Twitter account and use it as your marketing channel, it is
important to device a proper plan of action. Without effective
planning, any project eludes success. Therefore, make sure you have a
clear P.O.A. Decide who would handle the account and the frequency of
the posts.
Create a Profile Background
This goes a
long way in establishing your brand. You can display your products and
services, your company logo or anything that reflects your business on
the background. Don't forget to place your URL here.
Follow your Market Audiences
The
aim of your Twitter account should be to create a niche community. And
the first step towards this would be to follow people whom your brand
has a interest in. some people tend to think that the success of a
Twitter profile depends on the number of followers it has. However,
this is not true though. More than the quantity, the quality is what
matters. Its better to seek followers who have a genuine interest in
your brand. |
