On Monday, Microsoft introduced the new Office 2010 and Office Web Apps. Google’s browser-based Apps products and its new Chrome OS obviously put a lot of pressure on Microsoft urging it to come up with something new. Microsoft responded to these challenges with the introduction of its Microsoft Office 2010, which is a free, web based version of Microsoft office. Office 2010 will be live in the first half of the next year, but Microsoft promised to roll out a Beta version very soon. With the release of the new Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote will be available to anyone with a Microsoft Live account and will be accessed through the web browser. TechCrunch has a complete guide to Microsoft’s Office 2010. Google Apps are quite popular today, but Google’s advantage might fade away when the millions of people who now use Microsoft Office on their computers try the online versions and feel satisfied with the experience.
