Salesforce Parallel Tracker To Make Life Easier For Sales Reps

2015-07-31by Jenny Richards

AppMesh, the San Francisco-based purveyor of cloud-based customer relationship services has launched a new version of its package SalesMesh that aims to make customer engagement more dynamic and easier, while keeping in mind the ground realities of sales operations of organizations. The package enables sales representatives to set up a parallel tracker that enables them to keep on top of sales leads that have potential, but may not be quite reportable in Salesforce due to a high chance of them not fructifying.

Legitimizing Ground Realities of Sales

In practical sales environments most sales reps tend to keep the details of deals that have a high chance of not happening to themselves instead of reporting them in the usual Salesforce information structures. Only when the deal looks likely, do the reps use the Salesforce package functions to let their superior know. SalesMesh is an attempt to provide a package that will permit sales reps to automate their leads outside of the Salesforce package so that they can report it only when they think that there is sufficient potential in the deal. The Version 3.0 of the package is an improvement on its earlier avatars inasmuch that it now features communication capabilities that permit sales reps to collaborate with other team members using mobile devices like iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch.Leo Tenenblat,AppMesh’sCEO and co-founder says the package merely attempts to legitimize what really happens on the ground because sales and marketing personnel already communicate with both customers and team members outside of Salesforce.

Salesmesh Leads To Better Adoption of Salesforce

When SalesMesh was initially launched, it enabled sales reps to decide for themselves what data they wanted to share via Salesforce. The advancements in the new version allow sales reps to decide what information can be shared with others. The package is expected to grow in capabilities to an extent that it can cover as much as 80% of the functional requirements of sales reps so that using Salesforce becomes a more viable alternative for reporting at the final stages.SalesMeshhas been designed to automate the saving and organizing of all communication and contacts as well as events that is relevant to the sales rep. While it can also work in the offline mode, the package is versatile enough to allow syncing of data between various mobile devices and even permit sales reps to decide what data to be allowed to synchronize automatically with Salesforce. However, currently SalesMesh does not permit creation of a Salesforce sandbox template so that sales reps can validate their data.

Superior Functionality in Data and Information Sharing

Collaborative taking of notes and management of shared activities, contacts or opportunities with anybody that the sales rep decides; whether a team member or an external partner company is the hallmark of Version 3.0. These superior collaborative features also mean that sales reps do not have to use cumbersome email or apps for file sharing any more to share information.Tenenblat comments that the package has made it far easier for sales reps to communicate with people on the outside as normal CRM tends to exclude such activities. According to him, Version 3.0 merely formalizes a lot of options that sales reps already were using to communicate with others on an informal basis.

A Matter of Timing Not Hiding

Countering accusations that SalesMesh encourages sales reps to hide data and information from their superiors, Tenenblat says the package merely enables sales executives to communicate better in the typical sales environment and lets them decide when it is the right time for the information to be shared with their reporting structures via Salesforce. It all depends upon the confidence that a sales rep has on his superior that he will not include deals that may not happen in his sales forecasts so it could be that a sales manager is kept in the loop at every stage. SalesMesh merely facilitates sales reps to report deal possibilities only when they seem more realistic. Currently SalesMesh is integrated only with Salesforce and there are no plans for other CRM packages to come under its porting plans.
