These Industries Soaring With The Cloud

2015-02-23by Kate Supino

Cloud applications are making it easier for industries to gain traction in ways they could never dream of before.

Here are some well-known companies and industries that are embracing Cloud technology and why they've made the switch….

Amazon

Amazon quickly realized the potential of Cloud-based project management when it implemented the Mechanical Turk program.

Mechanical Turk utilizes the force of thousands of workers who complete small tasks across a broad range of needs. Companies that need big projects done break them down into tiny tasks that vetted users complete for small payouts.

Amazon profits from the companies that sign up to use the Cloud-based infrastructure. This is just one more revenue stream for Amazon that helps them keep shareholders happy.

Google

Google is a forerunner in all things technology-related, including the Cloud.

Google is a prolific provider of Cloud-based apps that anyone with a Gmail account can access for free. Apart from the goodwill that such apps generate, Google's offerings could be seen as corporate altruism, except that everyone knows by now how valuable information is.

The biggest downside to availing of Google's Cloud-based free apps is the information collection that goes on behind the scenes.

Industry

As the following article shows, here are 4 industries that are embracing the Cloud, including medical, IT services, insurance and transportation.

The medical industry is more interested in living on the Cloud than HIPPA may currently allow.

Since medical practitioners hold so much private information on patients, there is a lot of infrastructure that needs to be set up and secured before regulating authorities will allow a full Cloud move. It may happen soon, however.

Businesses are being born as we speak that cater to being HIPPA-compliant and specifically devoted to supporting the medical industry.

The IT services industry is nearly 100 percent Cloud-based already.

Even small businesses can now have their entire IT departments run off-site by third party software and companies. The Cloud is so perfect for the IT industry, it's almost like it was designed specifically for IT companies.

Natural Gravitation

It's natural that the insurance industry would gravitate - or rather elevate - to the Cloud.

Insurance companies are hyper-aware of the need to save every last penny, and Cloud-based systems are ideal for machine-run operations that save on payroll, brick and mortar space and precious time.

With Cloud computing, transportation and logistics companies are able to fine-tune costs like never before.

Company and employee apps make it possible for live data transfers, accurate weight records, better time management, scheduling and routing applications.

One other advantage that Cloud apps give transportation companies is fewer compliance infractions for overweight trucks or restricted driving laws on certain highways.

The Cloud is here to stay as long as this technology continues to improve the way companies do business.
