vSphere 5.0 and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 5.0 include the vSphere Replication feature. It enables replication of VMs at the virtual layer instead of the storage layer which relieves customers from relying on 3rd-party storage applications. It also uses the vSphere’s Changed Block Tracking (CBT) to only copy the blocks that have been changed. This makes it much easier to attain lower Recovery Point Objectives.
